Centrifugal pumps are used to transport fluids by the conversion of rotational kinetic energy to the hydrodynamic energy of the fluid flow. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine or electric motor. Centrifugal pumps can be categorized in different groups: Radial flow pumps, mixed flow pumps and axial flow pumps. Radial flow pumps and Semi-axial flow pumps are the most common types used.
A Positive Displacement Pump has an expanding cavity on the suction side and a decreasing cavity on the discharge side. Liquid flows into the pumps as the cavity on the suction side expands and the liquid flows out of the discharge as the cavity collapses. The volume is a constant given each cycle of operation. The best positive displacement pump examples are piston, plunger, diaphragm, gear, lob, screw and vane.
They are designed to improve well production, pipeline flow, and reduce corrosion. They operate under specific chemical and fluid requirements depending on the temperature and pressure with which the injection pump will be working at.
The Canned Motor Pump is composed of a traditional centrifugal hydraulic, connected to a special motor through a one piece assembly. The pump liquid circulates through the rotor chamber, cooling the motor, and lubricating the slide bearings that support the rotor.
Sludge pumps, or slurry transfer pumps as they are otherwise known, are designed for transferring viscous fluids with high solid content. Typically, the sludge transfer pump design is a positive displacement pump to enable the handling of heavy, viscous and abrasive liquids including oil sludge, bio waste, sewage, mud and lime slurry. Slurry pumps are common in mining, construction, agricultural and industrial applications where waste fluids are processed, and are often progressive cavity or peristaltic pumps.
The compressor constricts the refrigerant vapor, raising its pressure and temperature, and pushes it into the coils of the condenser on the outside of the refrigerator. The refrigerant absorbs the heat inside when it flows through the evaporator coils, cooling down the air inside. There are various types of compressors used in the refrigeration and air conditioning machines, these are: reciprocating, rotary, screw, centrifugal and scroll.
Centrifugal compressors, sometimes called radial compressors, are a sub-class of dynamic axisymmetric work-absorbing turbomachinery. They achieve a pressure rise by adding kinetic energy/velocity to a continuous flow of fluid through the rotor or impeller. This kinetic energy is then converted to an increase in potential energy/static pressure by slowing the flow through a diffuser. The pressure rise in the impeller is in most cases almost equal to the rise in the diffuser.
A reciprocating compressor or piston compressor is a positive-displacement compressor that uses pistons driven by a crankshaft to deliver gases at high pressure. The intake gas enters the suction manifold, then flows into the compression cylinder where it gets compressed by a piston driven in a reciprocating motion via a crankshaft, and is then discharged. Applications include oil refineries, gas pipelines, chemical plants, natural gas processing plants and refrigeration plants. One specialty application is the blowing of plastic bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
The basic function of an gear is to transmit rotary motion as well as power from one shaft to another. Gears can also be used to amplify power. Almost in every machine where speed control is needed gears are used. Gears are used in place of belt drives and other forms of drives when exact speeds and power transmission must be accurately maintained.
A coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting power. The primary purpose of couplings is to join two pieces of rotating equipment while permitting some degree of misalignment or end movement or both.
An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor’s magnetic field and electric current in a wire winding to generate force in the form of torque applied on the motor’s shaft. Electric motors can be powered by direct current (DC) sources, such as from batteries, motor vehicles or rectifiers, or by alternating current (AC) sources, such as a power grid, inverters or electrical generators.
A valve is a device or natural object that regulates, directs or controls the flow of a fluid (gases, liquids, fluidized solids, or slurries) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways. Different types of valves are available: gate, globe, plug, ball, butterfly, check, diaphragm, pinch, pressure relief, control valves etc.
